International Year of the Reef - an update (22/05/08)

Good morning everyone:

Many of you will remember earlier emails through the CEPA list about  2008 being the International Year of the Reef. Francis Staub, the coordinator for the year for ICRI (International Coral Reef Institute) is doing a great job of keeping me up-to-date with the many ongoing activities and developments. Please look below for the latest update - some ideas there for World Wetlands Day 2009! It is useful to take note of the information on World Water Monitoring Day (18th September) - look at their web site to read more about how to be involved and especially if you are interested in their water testing kits. I usually send out information on WWMD rather too late for any forward planning but not this time!

Best wishes, Sandra Hails, Ramsar Secretariat
