The Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands met 19-27 March 1996 in Brisbane, Australia, for the triennial Conference of the Parties. More than a thousand delegates, including government officials, wetland experts, and observers from non-governmental organizations, charted the course of international wetland conservation efforts into the next century.
