From 10 to 12 June 2019, Biodiversity-related Conventions gathered in Bern, Switzerland for the preparatory workshop for the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Ramsar Secretariat engaged and facilitated discussions among Parties to explore ways how Conventions can contribute to the Framework.
At the opening of the meeting Ramsar Secretary General, Martha Rojas Urrego, made a statement on behalf of the Biodiversity-related Conventions. Ramsar Secretariat also provided key messages in the session “Overview and introduction of the global architecture of multilateral agreements and frameworks relevant to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework”.
The Secretariat and six Standing Committee representatives (Armenia, Bhutan, Japan, the United States of America, Uganda and Uruguay) also provided Convention’s inputs to other sessions based on the background document prepared by the Secretariat.
