Financing Mechanisms for Freshwater Ecosystems


The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands, Danone and WWF recently launched an eLearning platform to build foundational knowledge of key concepts to enhance public-private sector knowledge and investment in the conservation of freshwater ecosystems.

The eLearning platform Bankable Nature Solutions Academy – Unlocking the private sector potential for conservation and biodiversity currently hosts three courses, namely:
- Valuing water;
- An introduction to freshwater ecosystems;
- An introduction to financing mechanisms for freshwater ecosystems.

This webinar provides an overview of the eLearning platform and how to enrol in the courses; presents different financing mechanisms for conservation of freshwater ecosystems with a focus on voluntary market based mechanisms; introduces the landscape approach and share actual examples to demonstrate how it is as a mechanism to facilitate multiple stakeholder collaboration to conserve and use wisely freshwater ecosystems; and presents how to develop bankable projects with WWF.
