Participation of the Convention on Wetlands in the processes of the IUCN Congress

The Secretariat was actively engaged in the IUCN World Conservation Congress from 3 - 7 September. The Secretary General participated in the Opening Plenary: Our Freshwater Global Risk and the Closing Plenary: A Blue Breakthrough. Other sessions in which the Secretary General participated included Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework: Recipe for Success, Deep Time 2029: What must we do now in 2021 to successfully address the nature emergency by 2050 and Global Species Action Plan: supporting implementation of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework through species conservation. During the Congress the Secretariat met with representatives of Danone and signed a new partnership agreement.

 The Secretariat also engaged in other relevant policy processes, including on Water Convention MOP9.
