El Fondo Nagao para los Humedales
En 2016, la Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) de Japón realizó una generosa donación voluntaria para establecer el Fondo Nagao para los Humedales (NWF, por sus siglas en inglés), administrado por la Secretaría de Ramsar.
La finalidad del NWF es ayudar a los gobiernos locales, los investigadores, las organizaciones no gubernamentales y las comunidades locales de los países en desarrollo en la región de Asia y Oceanía a aplicar la Convención de Ramsar y particularmente los objetivos y metas del Plan Estratégico de Ramsar para 2016-2024.
El NWF prioriza proyectos relativos a la conservación, la restauración y el uso racional de los humedales, incluidas las comunicaciones, la educación y la concienciación, y también la formación de guardaparques y personal de centros educativos sobre humedales.
Cada año, se pueden conceder fondos de hasta un máximo de 30.000 USD a cada proyecto aprobado. Sin embargo, como los fondos del NWF son limitados, el número total de proyectos que reciban financiación cada año dependerá de la cantidad, la calidad y el presupuesto propuesto para los proyectos. Sólo puede aprobarse la financiación de un proyecto por país y año.
Con este apoyo no se pretende reemplazar los niveles de financiación mucho más considerables a los que necesita acceder la mayoría de los países en desarrollo y países en transición para garantizar la conservación y el uso sostenible de sus recursos de humedales.

Requisitos:
Gobiernos locales, investigadores, organizaciones no gubernamentales y comunidades locales de los países enumerados en la Sección 3 "Países y regiones objetivo" en este enlace y Partes Contratantes de Asia Central y Occidental incluidas en la Lista del DAC disponible aquí. Los proyectos candidatos deberían estar señalados como una prioridad nacional para la aplicación del Plan Estratégico 2016-2024 de la Convención por la Parte Contratante correspondiente.
