Le Fonds Nagao pour les zones humides
En 2016, la Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) du Japon a fait une contribution volontaire généreuse en créant le Fonds Nagao pour les zones humides (NWF), administré par le Secrétariat Ramsar.
Le but du NWF est d’aider les collectivités locales, les chercheurs, les organisations non gouvernementales et les communautés locales des pays en développement d’Asie et d’Océanie à appliquer la Convention de Ramsar et en particulier, les buts et objectifs du Plan stratégique Ramsar 2016-2024.
Le NWF priorise les projets relatifs à la conservation, la restauration et l’utilisation rationnelle des zones humides, sans oublier la communication, l’éducation et la sensibilisation ainsi que la formation des gardes-parcs et du personnel des centres d’éducation aux zones humides.
Chaque année, des fonds d'un montant maximum de 30 000 USD peuvent être accordés à chaque projet approuvé. Cependant, comme les fonds de la NWF sont limités, le nombre total de projets financés chaque année dépendra de la quantité, de la qualité et des budgets proposés. Un seul projet par pays et par an peut être approuvé pour un financement.
Naturellement, ce financement n’a pas vocation à remplacer le financement beaucoup plus conséquent dont la plupart des pays en développement et en transition ont besoin s’ils doivent veiller à la conservation et à l’utilisation durable des ressources de leurs zones humides.

Éligibilité :
Les gouvernements locaux, les chercheurs, les organisations non gouvernementales et les communautés locales des pays énumérés à la section 3 "Pays et régions cibles" sur ce lien et les parties contractantes en Asie centrale et occidentale incluses dans la liste du CAD disponible ici. Les projets proposés doivent être une priorité nationale de la Partie contractante concernée pour l’application du Plan stratégique Ramsar 2016-2024.
