Beom-Sik brings into the Secretariat his solid experience in national and international environmental policy, having worked in the various branches of the Government of the Republic of Korea, including the Ministry of Environment, Prime Minister’s Office, and the Office of the President.
He has also extensive experience in intergovernmental processes, having represented the Government on various multilateral environmental agreements and processes, such as UNFCCC, CBD, IPBES, the UN Environment Assembly, IRENA and the Convention on Wetlands, since 1996.
Before joining the Secretariat, Beom-Sik worked in the IUCN headquarters as a Senior Manager in the Strategic Partnership Unit. Beom-Sik holds an M.Sc. in Social-Ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development from the Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University, and a Ph.D. from the School of Environmental Bio-Engineering from Hallym University.
