Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Girona. After specializing in Organisms and Systems, he moved to Denmark in order to complete a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Sustainability Science at Aalborg University. He has worked on projects covering several areas during that period, including urban ecosystem services, waste management and the sustainable development of sub-Saharan countries such as Senegal. He also interned at the institute of Ecology, in Tallinn University, Estonia, where he collaborated with the European project BONUS BaltCoast to protect the Baltic coast from issues such as ecosystem degradation, flooding and erosion. There he focused on the coastal erosion of the Pärnu bay to complement the studies being done by the senior researchers to preserve the Baltic coastline.
During his period in Estonia, he developed an interest for the management of wetlands, and in October 2018, he joined the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands as the Assistant Advisor for Europe, helping evaluate Ramsar information sheets, completing Ramsar databases and helping assess project proposals. Since November 2021, Robert has been working as Capacity Development and Policy Support Officer, strengthening the capacities of Contracting Parties and supporting the Policy engagement of the Secretariat.
