Scientific & Policy Officer

Filip manages the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) processes, provides technical support to the work of the STRP and coordinates support in development and implementation of its workplan. In addition, he provides advice on specific policy matters in the work plan of the Secretariat.  Filip is a Swedish national and an environmental engineer and conservation biologist by training, with a PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. Prior to joining the Secretariat Filip worked with UNEP as a Technical Expert focusing on technical cooperation and reporting on the sustainable use of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems under the global indicator framework for the SDGs. He has also managed the programme on environmental monitoring and assessment for the UNECE, developing a Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) in the pan-European region, and worked as an environmental policy researcher for the European Forest Institute in Vienna and Brussels.
