Laura Berner-Alteneder

Jeune experte - support technique (Europe)

Laura holds a Master in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po Paris and a BSc Honours in Business and Economics from the Vienna University for Economics and Business, specialising in Environment, Climate Change and Sustainability. With a passion for water policy, Laura became particularly interested in wetlands during her Master programme. In her previous role, Laura worked on projects for the elimination of hazardous chemicals and waste at the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions Secretariat. During her studies, she worked in an Austrian consultancy specialising in innovation funding and was a tutor for students with disabilities. Committed to justice and equality, Laura volunteered to provide educational support to refugee children and strives to incorporate these considerations into all aspects of her work.

Laura has lived in Austria, France, the United Kingdom, and Norway and is fluent in German, English, and French. In her new role as Junior Professional – Technical Support (Europe) at the Ramsar Convention Secretariat, Laura will assist with RSIS database processes and provide support to Contracting Parties. She will further promote the conservation and sustainable use of Ramsar Sites and be involved in policy processes and project implementation.
